Culver City Schools Reopened

As air quality has substantially improved, Culver City Unified schools are open and haveresumed regularly scheduled instruction on Monday, January 13. Afterschool care services will also resume at all sites tomorrow. After school athletics may be revised pending tomorrow's air quality recommendations for outdoor activities and updates will be provided during the day tomorrow.

This decision took into account several additional factors including:

Air quality continues to improve in our area and may still restrict the use of outdoor spaces; however, CCUSD will shift procedures accordingly on school campuses to adhere to recommendations from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).

Culver City is under no evacuation orders and is not in an area that is considered at risk of fires.

District Maintenance teams are conducting site reviews today and will implement appropriate cleaning procedures.

CCUSD uses MERV 13 air filters. Recent MERV 13 filter changes in classrooms are effectively absorbing dust from the wildfire, keeping the classrooms clean and safe. Our Maintenance department checked the filters on Jan 10th. We will continue frequent checks and replace filters as needed before regular intervals, based on filter status.

All schools will have masks available for all students or staff that wish to use one.

We will continue to monitor the situation this evening and overnight, and will communicate if any changes need to be made.

Wishing the very best in health, safety, and wellness to all of our students, families, and staff.
