Fight with officers ends With Suspects Arrest

At 6:30 pm Saturday night, officers responded to a radio call of a suspicious subject that was spotted walking to the rear of a resident's backyard on the 4300 block of Jackson Avenue.

When officers arrived moments later and confronted the suspect, he began fighting with officers and ran towards the La Ballona Creek.

Officers pursued the suspect on foot and he attempted to evade them by scaling over a fence into the exterior of a business at the 4600 block of Leahy Street. The suspect then decided to climb several thick trees and hide there.

With the support of a helicopter and a drone, officers were able contain the area where the subject was located and make announcements and attempt several tactics to try to safely bring him into custody. After over thirty minutes of speaking with a CCPD Crisis Negotiator, the subject agreed to climb down and was safely detained at approximately 7:50 pm by officers without further incident.

The suspect was arrested for residential burglary and resisting an officer and was booked at the Culver City Jail.
