2024 NFL Power Rankings – Week 16

1. Kansas City Chiefs (13-1): The Chiefs finally got a double-digit win, beating the Browns in Cleveland, 21-7. The Chiefs may not look like the best team in the NFL on a week-to-week basis, but they have the best record in the NFL, and they are the two-time defending Super Bowl champions. 2. Buffalo Bills (11-3): The Bills have the 2024 NFL MVP and that makes them the team a team that no one should want to face in the playoffs. Allen threw three touchdown passes and ran for two touchdowns in a 48-42 win over the Lions in Detroit. The Bills are the only team to beat the Chiefs and now they are one of two teams to have beaten the Lions. 3. Detroit Lions (12-2): The Lions suffered their second loss of the season, losing to the Bills 48-42. Quarterback Jared Goff threw for 494 yards and five touchdowns, but it was not enough to overcome the Bills juggernaut of an offense led by Josh Allen. The Bills are still the No. 1 seed overall in the NFC but must win their final three games against the Bears and 49ers, both on the road, and their Week 18 game at home against the Vikings in Detroit. 4. Minnesota Vikings (12-2): The Vikings got an easy win over the Bears on Monday Night, 30-12. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell has done an outstanding job getting this team to 12-2 for the season with three games remaining. They have a tough remaining schedule with two of their final three games on the road, but they control their own destiny in the NFC if they win their final three games. 5. Philadelphia Eagles (12-2): The Eagles won their 10th consecutive game, defeating the Steelers, 27-13 at home. They are tied with the Lions and Vikings for best record, but the Lions have the better conference record, and they have the head-to-head win over the Vikings. Next: -3.5 at Washington Commanders – Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 45.5 (ATS: 9-5 – O/U: 5-9) Win probability: 62.9%

6. Green Bay Packers (10-4): The Packers had an impressive 30-13 win over the Seahawks for their 10th win of the season to clinch a playoff berth. Quarterback Jordan Love completed 20 of 27 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns, both to wide receiver Romeo Doubs. 2022 All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown in the victory. 7. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4): The Steelers lost the state championship to the Eagles, 27-13 on Sunday in Philadelphia. The Steelers were held to 163 yards in total offense in the defeat, raising the question of just how good the Steelers offense is? Next: +6.5 at Baltimore Ravens – Sat, Dec. 21, 1:30 PM PT – O/U: 44.5 (ATS: 10-4 – O/U: 7-7) Win probability: 24.2%

8. Baltimore Ravens (9-5): The Ravens got an easy blow out win over the Giants, 35-14 on the road. Quarterback Lamar Jackson threw for five touchdowns, completing 21 of 25 passes for 290 yards in a dominant performance. Next: -6.5 vs Pittsburgh Steelers – Sat, Dec. 21, 1:30 PM PT – O/U: 44.5 (ATS: 7-6-1 – O/U: 11-3) Win probability: 75.8%

9. Washington Commanders (9-5): The Commanders hung on to defeat the Saints, 20-19 to get one step closer to the playoffs. The Commanders can clinch a playoff berth this weekend with a win over the Eagles and a loss by both the Falcons and the Seahawks. Next: +3.5 vs Philadelphia Eagles – Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 45.5 (ATS: 8-5-1 – O/U: 9-5) Win probability: 37.1%

10. Houston Texans (9-5): The Texans clinched the AFC South division title with their win over the Dolphins. At this point, the team needs to focus on getting healthy and prepare for their first-round playoff opponent, which will be the Ravens or Steelers or Broncos or Chargers. Next: +3.5 at Kansas City Chiefs – Sat, Dec. 12, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 42.5 (ATS: 6-6-2 – O/U: 4-10) Win probability: 46.2%

11. Denver Broncos (9-5): The Broncos came from behind to defeat the Colts, 31-13. The Broncos need one win to clinch a wild-card playoff berth, which would be an amazing turnaround for the Broncos and head coach Sean Payton. Next: +2 at Los Angeles Chargers - Thu, Dec. 19, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 11-3 – O/U: 8-5-1) Win probability: 42.4%

12. Los Angeles Rams (8-6): The Rams got though the rain and the 49ers in a 12-6 win in Santa Clara. The Rams are tied with the Seahawks but hold the head-to-head advantage over the Seahawks due to their win over the Seahawks in Seattle. The Rams will play the Seahawks at SoFi Stadium in Week 18. Next: -3 at New York Jets – Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46.5 (ATS: 7-7 – O/U: 7-7) Win probability: 61.3%

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6): The Buccaneers put on an offensive display in a dominant 40-17 win over the Chargers. The Bucs had 506 yards in total offense while holding the Chargers to 206 yards in total offense. Rookie running back Bucky Irving, the former Oregon star, leads all rookies in rushing yardage with 852 yards. He is averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Irving has caught 38 of his 40 targets for 278 yards. Next: -4 at Dallas Cowboys – Sun, Dec. 22, 5:20 PM PT – O/U: 48 (ATS: 9-5 – O/U: 9-5) Win probability: 67.1%

14. Los Angeles Chargers (8-6): The Chargers got blown out by the Buccaneers at home in Sofi Stadium, 40-17. The Chargers need to win 2 of their final 3 games to clinch a wild-card playoff berth in the AFC. This week's game against the Broncos at SoFi Stadium is huge. 15. Seattle Seahawks (8-6): The Seahawks got decisively beat at home by the Packers, 30-13 and lost their starting quarterback in the process. Geno Smith suffered a knee injury but should be available for this week's game against the Vikings at home. Next: +3 vs Minnesota Vikings - Sun, Dec. 22, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 42.5 (ATS: 6-7-1 - O/U: 7-7) Win probability: 39%

16. Arizona Cardinals (7-7): The Cardinals ended their three-game losing streak with a win at home against the Patriots, 30-17. The Cardinals rode running back James Conner in the victory. Conner rushed 16 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns, adding five receptions for 28 yards. The Cardinals are still alive in the playoff chase but need to win out to have any realistic chance of making the playoffs. 17. San Francisco 49ers (6-8): SF stands for seasoned finished after the 49ers fell into last place in the NFC West with a 12-6 home loss to the Rams. The defending NFC Champions have been devastated by injuries this season and need to get healthy and replenish through the 2025 NFL draft. Next: -1 at Miami Dolphins – Sun, Dec. 22, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 44.5 (ATS: 5-9 – O/U: 7-7) Win probability: 51.2%

18. Indianapolis Colts (6-8): The Colts had an opportunity to get a big win on the road, but let it slip away with some bonehead decisions, losing 31-13 to the Broncos in Denver. Leading 13-7 early in the third quarter, running back Jonathan Taylor took off a 41-yard TD run to apparently increase the lead to 20-7. Unfortunately for the Colts, Taylor let go of the ball before he crossed the goal-line, resulting in a fumble. It was a costly loss for the Colts and their playoff hopes. 19. Miami Dolphins (6-8): The Dolphins fell to 6-8 after a loss to the Texans in Houston. Their slim playoff hopes are hanging by a thread and even with a relatively easy schedule over the last three weeks, it is doubtful that the Fish can make the playoffs this season. 20. Atlanta Falcons (7-7): The Falcons ended their four-game losing streak with an unimpressive win over the flailing Raiders, 15-9. After the game, head coach Raheem Morris decided to bench struggling quarterback Kirk Cousins and go with rookie quarterback Michael Penix. 21. Cincinnati Bengals (6-8): In a game marred by turnovers, the Bengals got by the Titans, 37-27 in Nashville. There were ten turnovers in the game, six by the Titans and four by the Bengals in an ugly win for the Bengals, who kept their faint playoff hopes alive with the victory. 22. Dallas Cowboys (6-8): Quarterback Cooper Rush threw three touchdown passes as the Cowboys got a 30-14 win in Charlotte over the Panthers. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb caught 5 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in the victory. 23. Chicago Bears (4-10): The Bears are circling the drain on their football season after another loss, this time at the hands of the Vikings, 30-12. The Bears had a touchdown run erased by penalty when backup center Doug Kramer neglected to report as an eligible receiver upon entering as an extra blocker for the goal line play. Next: +6.5 vs Detroit Lions - Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 48 (ATS: 6-6-2 – O/U: 5-9) Win probability: 20.4%

24. New York Jets (4-10): The Jets finally got a win, beating the Jaguars behind an old and familiar passing combination. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns and wide receiver Davante Adams caught 9 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns, bringing back memories of the good old days in Green Bay. Next: +3 vs Los Angeles Rams - Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46.5 (ATS: 5-9 – O/U: 8-5-1) Win probability: 38.7%

25. New England Patriots (3-11): The Patriots lost to the Cardinals 30-17 as they continue to "Tank for Travis." The Pats play the Bills twice and the Chargers to end the season, so finding a win will not be easy over the final three weeks. Next: +6 at Arizona Cardinals – Sun, Dec. 15, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 46.5 (ATS: 5-8-1 – O/U: 9-5) Win probability: 5.6%

26. Carolina Panthers (3-11): The Panthers lost again, this time to the Cowboys 30-14. Undrafted rookie wide receiver Jalen Coker, who played his college football at Holy Cross, caught four passes for 110 yards and one touchdown, including an 83-yard TD pass from quarterback Bryce Young in the loss. Next: -3 vs Dallas Cowboys – Sun, Dec. 15, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 43 (ATS: 6-8 – O/U: 10-4) Win probability: 29.7%

27. New Orleans Saints (5-9): The Saints competed, but lost to the Commanders, 20-19. Former Fresno State star Jake Haener started at quarterback, but was eventually benched for Spencer Rattler, who almost pulled it out for the Saints. Rattler is expected to start in Week 16. Next: +14 at Green Bay Packers – Mon, Dec. 23, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 42.5 (ATS: 6-8 – O/U: 7-7) Win probability: 9.3%

28. Tennessee Titans (3-11): The Titans lost again, this time to the Bengals, 37-27. Quarterback Will Levis completed 8 of his 12 passes to Titans receivers, and also completed three passes to Bengal defenders, including a pick-6 for a Bengals TD. Levis was benched for backup Mason Rudolph and Rudolph will start in Week 16. Next: +3.5 at Indianapolis Colts – Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 42.5 (ATS: 2-12 – O/U: 8-5-1) Win probability: 35%

29. Cleveland Browns (3-11): The Browns lost to the Chiefs, 21-7, and quarterback Jameis Winston was benched after throwing a third interception. Former UCLA star Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start this week at quarterback for the Browns. Next: +8.5 at Cincinnati Bengals – Sun, Dec. 22, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46.5 (ATS: 4-10 – O/U: 6-8) Win probability: 30.2%

30. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-11): The Jaguars lost a battle with the Jets on Sunday, 32-25. The good news is the development of rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., the Jags first round pick out of LSU. Thomas caught ten passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Jets. For the season, Thomas has 64 receptions for 956 yards and eight touchdowns. Next: +1.5 at Las Vegas Raiders - Sun, Dec. 22, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 40.5 (ATS: 7-6-1 – O/U: 8-6) Win probability: 49.9%

31. Las Vegas Raiders (2-12): The fading Raiders lost their 10th consecutive game, this time to the Falcons, 15-9. The Raiders have not won a football game since September. They appear to be "Sinking for Shedeur" or "Stinking for Shedeur." The Colorado QB is considered by many as the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft. The Raiders desperately need help at QB. Next: -1.5 vs Jacksonville Jaguars – Sun, Dec. 22, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 4o.5 (ATS: 5-8-1 – O/U: 8-6) Win probability: 50.1%

32. New York Giants (2-12): The Giants lost to the Ravens; their 9th consecutive game loss in a rough season. The good news for the Giants is that all six draft picks from the 2024 NFL draft are contributing and all six have started at least four games. Former UCLA linebacker Darius Muasau, a 6th round pick for the Giants in the 2024 draft, has started four games, with 28 tackles and one interception.
