SMC Concert Chorale and First United Methodist Church Santa Monica Chancel Choir Collaborate to Present Free Holiday Concert Dec. 8

Popular Seasonal Event Includes Audience Sing-along

The Santa Monica College (SMC) Concert Chorale and The Chancel Choir of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica will join forces to present an enchanting afternoon of seasonal music - and an audience sing-along - at the annual Christmas Concert. The festive event's program promises to uplift the spirit of the season with a rich repertoire that includes "Magnificat" by Gerald Finzi, "Jubilate Deo" by Dan Forrest, and the ever popular audience sing-along, "Carols, Etc." The choirs will be joined by the Los Angeles Concert Orchestra, as well as the Mark Twain Alumni Ringers.

The SMC Music Department collaborates with its former Chair and music faculty member Dr. James Smith, who directed the SMC Concert Chorale and the SMC Symphony Orchestra during his tenure at SMC, and now directs the talented voices of The Chancel Choir. Interim Concert Chorale Director Ryan Brown will join Dr. Smith to conduct the festive event.

The concert is free (donations welcome) and will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 1008 11th St., Santa Monica. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.

More information is available by calling 310-434-4323. All performances subject to change or cancellation without notice.
