2024 NFL Power Rankings – Week 8

1.Kansas City Chiefs (6-0): The Chiefs are the only unbeaten team in the NFL after defeating the 49ers on the road, but that still was not good enough. The Chiefs then went out and traded for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to give the offense more offensive fire power. The Titans get a fifth-round pick that elevates to a fourth rounder if KC makes the Super Bowl and Hopkins plays 60% of the snaps. What a steal. Next: -9.5 at Las Vegas Raiders - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 5-1 – O/U: 2-4)

2. Detroit Lions (5-1): The Lions went into Minnesota and beat the previously unbeaten Vikings 31-29 on a 44-yard Jake Bates field goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game. Quarterback Jared Goff completed 22 of 25 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Jahmyr Gibbs had 15 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns. This Lions team is real good. Next: -11.5 vs Tennessee Titans – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 45 (ATS: 5-1 – O/U: 3-3)

3. Baltimore Ravens (5-2): The Ravens won their fifth consecutive game, defeating the Bucs 41-31. The Ravens lead the NFL in offensive yardage per game at 461.4 yards per game, rushing yardage per game at 210.9 yards per game, and points per game at 31.1 points per game. They look like a team that no one wants to play. Next: -8.5 at Cleveland Browns – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U 44.5 (ATS: 4-2-1 – O/U: 6-1)

4. Minnesota Vikings (5-1): The Vikings loss their first game of the season to the Lions on a late field goal. The good news is that two-time Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson should return this week from his ACL injury suffered last season. Next: -2.5 at Los Angeles Rams – Thu, Oct. 24, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 47.5 (ATS: 5-1 – O/U: 2-4)

5. Buffalo Bills (5-2): The Bills easily defeated the Titans, 34-10. The Bills lead the NFL in turnover ratio with a +11. Quarterback Josh Allen has not thrown an interception though seven games. If that continues, the Bills could be tough to beat in the AFC. Next: -3 at Seattle Seahawks - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 47 (ATS: 4-3 – O/U: 4-3)

6. Houston Texans (5-2): The Texans lost to the Packers in Week 7 on a 45-yard field goal with no time left on the clock, 24-22. Joe Mixon rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, which helped the struggling passing attack in this game and kept it close. Next: -5 vs Indianapolis Colts – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U 46 (ATS: 3-3-1 – O/U: 2-5)

7. Green Bay Packers (5-2): Quarterback Jordan Love outplayed his fellow California quarterback, C.J. Stroud, in a 24-22 win over the Texans. Love threw three touchdown passes in the game and 220 yards. Stroud threw for just 86 yards and no touchdowns. Next: -3.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars - Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 49 (ATS: 4-3 – O/U: 3-3-1)

8. Washington Commanders (5-2): The Commanders lost Heisman trophy quarterback Jayden Daniels early in the game due to a rib injury but did not lose a beat in a 40-7 blowout win over the Panthers. The Commanders turned to their backup Heisman trophy winner, Marcus Mariota, who completed 18 of 23 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns, adding another 34 rushing yards in the victory. Next: +3 vs Chicago Bears – Sun, Oct. 27, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 43.5 (ATS: 5-1-1 – O/U: 5-2)

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2): The Steelers started Russell Wilson at QB in Week 7 and after a slow start, ran away from the Jets, 37-15. Wilson was impressive, throwing for 264 yards and two touchdowns. The Steelers have thrown just one interception in seven games, and have a +9-turnover ratio, second to the Bills in the NFL. Next: -6 vs New York Giants – Mon, Oct. 28, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 36 (ATS: 5-2 – O/U: 3-4)

10. Chicago Bears (4-2): The Bears are coming off a bye in Week 6 and should be feeling good about their season to this point. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has looked good in the last two games and the defense has caused 13 turnovers in 6 games. Next: -3 at Washington Commanders - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 43.5 (ATS: 4-1-1 – O/U: 3-3)

11. Seattle Seahawks (4-3): The Seahawks went into Atlanta and impressively defeated the Falcons, 34-14. Quarterback Geno Smith threw for two touchdowns and the defense produced three turnovers in the victory. Next: +3 vs Buffalo Bills - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 47 (ATS: 2-4-1 - O/U: 5-2)

12. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2): The Eagles looked impressive in holding the Giants to just 119 yards in offense in a 28-3 blowout win. Running back Saquon Barkley returned to the play against the team that did not need him and showed them what they had lost, as he rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown in the rout. Next: +2.5 at Cincinnati Bengals – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 48 (ATS: 3-3 – O/U: 2-4)

13. Atlanta Falcons (4-3): The Falcons turned in a lackluster performance on Sunday, losing to the Seahawks in Atlanta, 34-14. The Falcons had three turnovers in the loss, two from interceptions thrown by quarterback Kirk Cousins. Next: -2.5 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46 (ATS: 3-4 – O/U: 3-4)

Taylor has missed the last three games with a high-ankle injury. Next: +5 at Houston Texans – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46 (ATS: 6-1 – O/U: 3-4)

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3): The Buccaneers produced 31 points against the Ravens, but the offense could not keep up with what their defense was allowing in a 41-31 loss to the Ravens. The Bucs lost both starting wide receivers in the game, and quarterback Baker Mayfield will need to rely on his young wide receivers in the upcoming weeks, starting with rookie wide receiver Jalen McMillan and second-year pro Trey Palmer. Next: +2.5 vs Atlanta Falcons – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46 (ATS: 4-3 – O/U: 5-2)

16. Denver Broncos (4-3): The Broncos easily defeated the Saints in New Orleans, 33-10 in Week 7. Linebacker Cody Barton had eight tackles, a sack, and a 52-yard fumble recovery and return for a touchdown in the victory. Next: -9.5 vs Carolina Panthers - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 41.5 (ATS: 5-2 – O/U: 4-3)

17. Los Angeles Chargers (3-3): Quarterback Justin Herbert had his best game of the season, throwing for 349 yards but it was not enough to overcome the lack of a running attack in a 17-15 loss to the Cardinals on Monday Night. The Chargers have just four turnovers in six games, but two came in this game and contributed to the loss. Next: -7 vs New Orleans Saints - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 40.5 (ATS: 3-3 – O/U: 1-5)

18. San Francisco 49ers (3-4): Quarterback Brock Purdy threw three interceptions and looked like the last pick in the NFL draft in the 49ers loss to the Chiefs. The 49ers also lost wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a knee injury for the season, just adding to the growing list of injuries the team has suffered this season. Next: -4 vs Dallas Cowboys – Sun, Oct. 27, 5:20 PM PT – O/U: 46.5 (ATS: 3-4 – O/U: 4-3)

19. Dallas Cowboys (3-3): The Cowboys are coming off a bye in Week 7 and a 47-9 loss to the Lions in Week 6. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the controversy that always seems to surround the team in a Week 8 matchup with the 49ers. Next: +4 at San Francisco 49ers - Sun, Oct. 27, 5:20 PM PT – O/U: 46.5 (ATS: 2-4 – O/U: 4-2)

20. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4): The Bengals did just enough to defeat the Browns in Cleveland, 21-14. Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones took the opening kickoff of the game from his own goal line and returned it one hundred yards for a TD, giving the Bengals a 7-0 lead just 12 seconds into the first quarter. Jones was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 7. Next: -2.5 vs Philadelphia Eagles – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U 48 (ATS: 4-3 – O/U: 4-3)

21. Arizona Cardinals (3-4): The Cardinals got a win at home, defeating the Chargers on Monday Night, 17-15. Running back James Connor rushed 19 times for 1010 yards and had two receptions for 51 yards as his punishing running style seemed to wear on the Chargers defense in the victory. Next: +3.5 at Miami Dolphins - Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46 (ATS: 4-3 – O/U: 3-3-1)

22. Los Angeles Rams (2-4): As expected, the Rams beat the hapless Raiders, 20-15. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp is expected to play this week and is also being shopped around the league in trade offers. The 31-year-old former Super Bowl MVP has struggled with injuries in recent years but is still a talented player that many teams should be interested in if the salary cap issues can be worked out, including that team that also plays their home games at SoFi Stadium. Next: +2.5 vs Minnesota Vikings – Thu, Oct. 24, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 47.5 (ATS: 1-5 – O/U: 3-3)

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5): The Jaguars found an opponent they could beat in London, knocking off the Pats, 32-16. Running back Tank Bigsby, a third-round draft pick from Auburn in 2023, rushed for 118 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns, while Brian Thomas, a first-round pick in 2024 from LSU, had 5 catches for 89 yards and a TD. The Jags do have some good young talent, along with their franchise QB. Next: +3.5 vs Green Bay Packers - Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 49 (ATS: 3-4 – O/U: 4-3)

24. New Orleans Saints (2-5): The Saints lost their fifth consecutive game, getting crushed in New Orleans at the hands of the Denver Broncos, 33-10. Head coach Dennis Allen, once thought of as a defensive guru, has a defense that is ranked last in the NFL in yardage allowed per game at 394.9 yards per game. Next: +7 at Los Angeles Chargers – Sun, Oct. 27, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 40.5 (ATS: 3-4 – O/U: 5-2)

25. New York Jets (2-5): The Jets got blown out by the Steelers, 37-15 on Sunday Night. The Jets appear to be a talented team, but that is not always enough. This team needs leadership, both from the coaching staff and on the field from the players. Next: -7 at New England Patriots - Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 2-5 – O/U: 3-3-1)

26. Miami Dolphins (2-4): The Dolphins lost to the Colts but did get some good news. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return this week from injured reserve. Tagovailoa has been out with a concussion. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill and his fantasy owners are thrilled with his return. Next: -3.5 vs Arizona Cardinals - Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46 (ATS: 1-5 – O/U: 1-5)

27. Las Vegas Raiders (2-5): The Raiders lost to the Rams and also lost quarterback Aidan O'Connell for the 4-6 weeks with a thumb injury. The other QB, Gardner Minshew, is tied for the league lead in interceptions with eight. An obvious question, how did this team beat the Ravens in Baltimore? The Raiders lead the NFL in turnover ratio with a -13, and in turnovers with 16. Next: +9.5 vs Kansas City Chiefs - Sun, Oct. 27, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 3-4 – O/U: 4-3)

28. New York Giants (2-5): The Giants lost to the Eagles this weekend at home, 28-3. Giant fans in attendance at this game should demand a refund for the performance that they witnessed. The Giants had 119 yards in total offense, 10 first downs, and 11 punts against the Eagles. The worst offensive performance by the Giants in the 21st Century. Next: +6 at Pittsburgh Steelers – Mon, Oct. 28, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 36 (ATS: 3-4 – O/U: 1-6)

29. Tennessee Titans (1-5): The Titans brought their No. 1 ranked defense in the NFL to Buffalo this past weekend, but unfortunately, they also had to bring their offense as well, which never looks that good. The Bills easily defeated the Titans, 34-10. Next: +11.5 at Detroit Lions – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 45 (ATS: 1-5 – O/U: 3-2-1)

30. New England Patriots (1-6): The Patriots went to London looking to end their losing streak, but the Jaguars put a quick stop to that idea, defeating the Pats, 32-16. Head coach Jerod Mayo called his team soft after the loss. He could have also added lacking in talent to that statement. Next: +7 vs New York Jets – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 1-5-1 – O/U: 4-3)

31. Carolina Panthers (1-6): The Panthers lost again, as expected, getting blown out by the Commanders, 40-7. Quarterback Bryce Young will be back into the starting lineup this week against the Broncos in Denver. Quarterback Andy Dalton sprained his thumb in a car accident and will not start. A skeptic might think that the Panthers were just looking for an excuse to bench Dalton and start Young. Next: +9.5 at Denver Broncos – Sun, Oct. 27, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 41.5 (ATS: 1-6 – O/U: 5-2)

32. Cleveland Browns (1-6): The Browns lost again, this time to the Bengals, 21-14. They also lost quarterback Deshaun Watson for the season to a ruptured Achilles tendon. The starting quarterback this week will be Jameis Winston, and his backup will be former UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Browns look like a team that will have a top five pick in the 2025 NFL draft, if not the top pick. Next: +8.5 vs Baltimore Ravens – Sun, Oct. 27, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 44.5 (ATS: 2-5 – O/U: 2-5)
