Adapted from the play by Luigi Pirandello, "Six Characters in Search of a Playwright" tells the tale of a company of actors getting ready to rehearse Pirandello's "Mixing it Up." The rehearsal is interrupted by six characters in search of a playwright to complete their story. The characters, who are revealed to be the incomplete creations of a playwright who has abandoned them, demand that their story be told.
The SMC production is directed by Terrin Adair.
Pirandello (1867-1936) was a renowned and prolific Italian dramatist who wrote more than 30 plays, hundreds of short stories, and several novels. He was awarded the 1934 Nobel Prize in Literature.
