2024 NFL Power Rankings – Week 5

1. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0): The Chiefs are 4-0 and quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been average this season and the Chiefs are still undefeated. That should scare everyone. Mahomes is the No. 18 rated passer in the NFL this season, with six touchdown passes and five interceptions. 2. Minnesota Vikings (4-0): Former USC quarterback Sam Darnold had another good game, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings win at Green Bay. Darnold leads the NFL in passer rating. Next: -2.5 vs New York Jets – Sun, Oct. 6, 6:30 AM PT – O/U: 40 (ATS: 4-0 – O/U: 1-3)

3. Detroit Lions (3-1): Quarterback Jared Goff completed 100% of his passes, 18 for 18, for 292 yards and two touchdowns in the 42-29 win over the Seahawks in Detroit. The Lions and the Vikings are headed for an early season showdown in Detroit on October 20th. 4. Baltimore Ravens (2-2): The Ravens have finally figured out that handing off the ball to a great running back might be the easiest path to victory. Running back Derrick Henry rushed 24 times for 199 yards, which included an 87-yard touchdown run in the Ravens blowout victory over the Bills. 5. Buffalo Bills (3-1): The Bills were mauled in Baltimore on Sunday, 35-10. The Ravens rushed for 271 yards and had 427 yards in total offense, to just 236 yards for the Bills. Quarterback Josh Allen was sacked three times and hit eight times in the loss. Next: -1 at Houston Texans - Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 47.5 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 2-2)

6. Seattle Seahawks (3-1): The Seahawks fell from the unbeaten ranks in a loss at Detroit. The Seahawks had 516 yards in total offense and scored 29 points in the loss, but two turnovers did not help. Next: -6.5 vs New York Giants - Sun, Oct. 6, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 43.5 (ATS: 1-2-1 - O/U: 3-1)

7. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1): The Steelers fell to the Colts for their first loss of the season, 27-24. The Steelers defense struggled for the first time this season, giving up 358 total yards and 27 points. Next: -2.5 vs Dallas Cowboys – Sun, Oct. 6, 5:20 PM PT – O/U: 44 (ATS: 3-1 – O/U: 1-3)

8. Houston Texans (3-1): Quarterback C.J. Stroud connected with tight end Dare Ogunbowale for a one-yard touchdown pass with just 18 seconds remaining to give the Texans a come-from-behind 24-20 win over the Jaguars in Houston. 9. Washington Commanders (3-1): Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels led the Commanders to an impressive 42-14 win over the Cardinals on the road. Daniels leads the NFL in completion percentage with a very impressive 82.1% completion rate and is the No. 3 rated passing quarterback in the NFL. 10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1): The Buccaneers had six sacks of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in an easy 33-16 win over Philadelphia. The Bucs lead the AFC South by one game over the second place Saints and Falcons. Next: +2 at Atlanta Falcons - Thu, Oct. 3, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 44 (ATS: 3-1 – O/U: 2-2)

11. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2): The Eagles were barely competitive in losing to the Bucs on Sunday, 33-16. The game was similar to the Eagles 32-19 playoff loss to the Bucs last season. 12. New Orleans Saints (2-2): The Saints looked terrific in the first two weeks of the season, outscoring the Panthers and the Cowboys by a combined 91-29 score. The last two weeks have been much tougher, as the opposing defenses have been bringing pressure to quarterback Derek Carr, something he has never handled very well. Next: +5.5 at Kansas City Chiefs - Mon Oct. 7, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 43 (ATS: 3-1 – O/U: 3-1)

13. Green Bay Packers (2-2): The Packers fell to the Vikings, 31-29, in a game that was not as close as the final score indicated. The Vikings held a 28-0 lead late in the third quarter, but Packers rallied to close the gap, as the Vikings went to a prevent defense to run the clock out. Next: -3 at Los Angeles Rams - Sun, Oct. 6, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 49 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 3-1)

14. San Francisco 49ers (2-2): The 49ers knocked off the Pats, 30-13 to snap a two-game losing streak. Running back Jordan Mason rushed for 123 yards for his third 100-yard rushing game in four weeks. Next: -7 vs Arizona Cardinals – Sun, Oct. 6, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 50 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 3-1)

15. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2): The Chargers suffered their 11th consecutive home loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, 17-10. The Chargers passing attack has averaged just 136 yards per game this season, 31st in the NFL, ahead of only the Pats. 16. New York Jets (2-2): The Jets were an 8.5-point favorite at home against the Broncos, but somehow managed to lose, 10-9. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw 42 passes, while 235-pound running back Braelon Allen had just 8 carries for 34 yards. The Jets might want to look to run the ball more with their big back. Rodgers was sacked 5 times in the game. Next: +2.5 at Minnesota Vikings - Sun, Oct. 6, 6:30 AM PT – O/U: 40 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 1-2-1)

17. Las Vegas Raiders (2-2): The Raiders beat the Browns on Sunday, but the real news is that wide receiver Devante Adams has asked for a trade. The Raiders have indicated a willingness to accommodate Adams, it will not be a surprise if he ends up with the Jets. The Chargers could use him, but Raiders GM Tom Telesco would never let that happen. Next: +2.5 at Denver Broncos - Sun, Oct. 6, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 35.5 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 2-2)

18. Atlanta Falcons (2-2): The Falcon beat the Saints on Sunday on a 58-yard field goal by Younghoe Koo, 26-24. A terrific pressure kick from Koo. If he had only kicked that well for the Chargers back in 2017... Next: -2 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Thu, Oct. 3, 5:15 PM PT – O/U: 44 (ATS: 1-3 – O/U: 1-3)

19. Indianapolis Colts (2-2): Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco came off the bench to throw two touchdown passes and lead the Colts to a 27-24 win over the Steelers. Flacco replaced injured starter Anthony Richardson, who had been struggling before he got hurt. The 39-year old Flacco may end up becoming this year's George Blanda, coming off the bench to win games for the Colts. 20. Dallas Cowboys (2-2): Every win is a good win, so the Cowboys should celebrate their 20-15 road over the Giants. That said, the Cowboys have not looked good, even in winning. They are America's team in name only. Next: +2.5 at Pittsburgh Steelers - Sun, Oct. 6, 5:20 PM PT – O/U: 44 (ATS: 1-3 – O/U: 3-1)

21. Chicago Bears (2-2): The Bears knocked off the Rams 24-18 behind running back D'Andre Swift, who rushed for 93 yards, including a 36 yard-touchdown run, and also caught 7 passes for 72 yards. Next: -3.5 vs Carolina Panthers - Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 2-1-1 – O/U: 1-3)

22. Denver Broncos (2-2): The Broncos have a two-game winning streak after knocking off the Jets, 10-9. It was their second consecutive win on the road. The Broncos have only played one game at home this season. Next: -2.5 vs Las Vegas Raiders - Sun, Oct. 6, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 35.5 (ATS: 3-1 – O/U: 1-3)

23. Arizona Cardinals (1-3): The Cardinals got blown out at home by the Commanders, as the quarterback duel between Kyler Murray of the Cardinals and rookie Jayden Daniels was ruled a knockout for Daniels. Next: +7 at San Francisco 49ers - Sun, Oct. 6, 1:05 PM PT – O/U: 50 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 3-1)

24. Los Angeles Rams (1-3): The Rams will always have their miracle victory over the 49ers the week before to cherish and hold on to. They may not have another win like that this season. The Bears knocked off the Rams, 24-18. Two turnovers and mental mistakes did not help the Rams in their latest loss. Next: +3 vs Green Bay Packers – Sun, Oct. 6, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 49 (ATS: 1-3 – O/U: 3-1)

25. Miami Dolphins (1-3): The Dolphins had the struggling Titans at home and still could not find a win, losing 31-12 to the Titans and backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. They will take on the Patriots this Sunday on the road in the NFL Crummy Game of the Week. Next: +1 at New England Patriots - Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 36.5 (ATS: 0-4 – O/U: 1-3)

26. New York Giants (1-3): Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabors has 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns. Despite his efforts, the Giants are 1-3 after a loss to the Cowboys. Nabors and the Giants are in for a long season in 2024. Next: +6.5 at Seattle Seahawks – Sun, Oct. 6, 1:25 PM PT – O/U: 43.5 (27. New England Patriots (1-3): The Patriots fell to 1-3 after their 30-13 loss to the 49ers. The Patriots are a bad football team that is ranked last in total offense in the NFL and last in passing offense, averaging just 112 yards per game. Next: -1 vs Miami Dolphins – Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 36.5 (ATS: 1-2-1 – O/U: 2-2) ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 0-4)

28. Cincinnati Bengals (1-3): The Bengals had to travel to Charlotte to find a win, but at least they got their first win, beating the Panthers. They return home to face a tough division opponent this week. Next: +2.5 vs Baltimore Ravens – Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U 49 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 3-1)

29. Cleveland Browns (1-3): The Browns are the only team in the NFL that has not had at least one game with 300 yards or more in total offense. That should explain why they are 1-3 and coming off a loss to the Raiders, despite their $230 million dollar quarterback. Next: +3.5 at Washington Commanders – Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 43.5 (ATS: 1-3 – O/U: 1-3)

30. Tennessee Titans (1-3): The Titans broke through with their first victory of the season behind their strong defense, 31-12 over the Dolphins in Miami. The Titans are ranked No. 1 in total defensive yardage allowed per game at 243.8 yards per game. The issues are on the offensive side of the ball, where the Titans rank 29th at 256.3 yards per game. 31. Carolina Panthers (1-3): The Panthers went back to being the Panthers on Sunday, losing to the Bengals, 34-24. The Bengals got their first win of the season, although the Panthers offense is much better since the benching of quarterback Bryce Young and replacing him with veteran Andy Dalton. Next: +3.5 at Chicago Bears – Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 41 (ATS: 1-3 – O/U: 3-1)

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) - The Jaguars are off to an 0-4 start after losing to the Texans, 24-20. The Jags are ranked 31st in defensive passing yardage allowed per game and quarterback Trevor Lawrence is ranked 31st in completion percentage at 53.3%. The Jaguars were thought to be a playoff team before the season started. Next: -2.5 vs Indianapolis Colts - Sun, Oct. 6, 10:00 AM PT – O/U: 46 (ATS: 2-2 – O/U: 1-3)
