Classic Albums Live (CAL) Presents: Fleetwood Mac - Rumours made a special appearance and was a smashing success, performing at The Lisa Smith Wengler Center For The Arts at Pepperdine University in Malibu.
CAL, founded in 2003 by Craig Martin, takes the greatest albums and re-creates them live on stage, note for note, cut for cut, using the best musicians. "Think of it as a recital," says Martin. "These albums are historic and stand the test of time."
Forgoing costumes and impersonations, CAL has found success in concentrating solely on the music. The band members don't dress up or wear any costumes. All of their energy is put into the music. They want the performance to sound exactly like the album, and it sure did. They were spot-on and very accurate in their interpretation of the album. Some of the songs on the album are "Go Your Own Way," "Don't Stop," "Second Hand News," and "I Don't Want To Know." CAL also treated the audience members to some other Fleetwood Mac hits after the Rumours album was complete.
CAL knows that the Rumours album is sacred to people. Every album that they re-create are also sacred, from The Beatles to The Who, and Pink Floyd, just to name a few other bands.
CAL has a group of core musicians that rotate in and out depending on what is needed to re-create a certain album. Sometimes they need to enlist an orchestra to back up an album they play.
At the conclusion of the concert, the feeling in the theater was please "Don't Stop."
