USC's Kamari Ramsey Named Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week

USC safety Kamari Ramsey was named Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week for his performance in USC's 27-20 victory over LSU on Sunday, Sept. 1 in front of a record-breaking, sold-out crowd at Allegiant Stadium.

Ramsey led the Trojans with 9 tackles against the Tigers.

The Trojans debuted defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn's brand of defense against the Tigers holding LSU to just 20 points. The last time LSU was limited to 20 points or less was in 2022 in the Tigers' 13-10 victory over Arkansas.

Following Coach Lynn's 3 pillars of "shocking effort, obnoxious communication and attack", the Trojan defense made some key third and fourth down stops, including a first quarter goal-line stand that changed the momentum of the game.

Ramsey transferred to USC in the spring of 2024 from UCLA where he played for Lynn last season. Ramsey recorded 40 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, 5 PBUs and 1 INT while starting in all 11 games that he appeared in during the 2023 season.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy player of the week is determined by a panel of Lott Trophy board members, former players and coaches, as well as members of the media.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy is awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of athletics and recognizes college football's Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
