Property Received Final Funding to Move Forward
The non-profit developer of the proposed affordable housing complex at the site of the Culver Palms United Methodist Church has obtained state funding to move forward with construction.
"We are thrilled to announce that our long-awaited Jubilo Village project received its final funding from the state of California," Community Corp. of Santa Monica posted on Facebook. "This has been a project put together in partnership with the Culver-Palms United Methodist Church and will feature 95 affordable homes for families with community and garden space."
Community Corp said that construction of the six-story project, named Jubilo Village, will start in early 2025.
The housing project, which will be built at 4464 Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City, is expected to cost around $66.5 million, according to the developers. Plans calls for 95 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments reserved for households earning between 30 and 80% of the median income level, according to city officials. "It will be a 100 percent affordable housing development," they added.
The project also includes the construction of new buildings on the property for Culver Palms United Methodist and its pre-school, according to Urbanize LA.
While Community Corp will lead the development, Culver Palms Church will continue to own the land, with ground lease payments covering the cost of its new pre-school and new offices.
