Harris, a 6-foot-3 guard from Murrieta, Calif., joins UCLA's program as a graduate transfer.
The UCLA men's basketball program has added guard Dominick Harris as a graduate transfer, as announced on Tuesday by Mick Cronin, The Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. Harris enters the program as a redshirt senior and has two seasons of remaining eligibility.
Harris, a 6-foot-3 guard from Murrieta, Calif., excelled last season as the leading scorer at Loyola Marymount University (14.3 ppg) after spending his first three collegiate seasons at Gonzaga University (2020-21 through 2022-23). Harris is eligible to play two more college seasons, as any student-athlete who competed in 2020-21 was afforded an additional year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Harris earned a medical redshirt during his second season at Gonzaga in 2021-22.
"We're thrilled to have Dominick Harris join our program," Cronin said. "He's a talented and experienced player who grew up in Southern California and wants to be at UCLA. Dominick really thrived on offense last season, particularly as a deep threat. Clearly, he adds an element to our offense with his ability to make threes at a high rate. He took some major strides as a player last season, leading the WCC in three-point shooting percentage. But we also believe he can make a major impact on the defensive end and really help our team in a variety of ways."
As a redshirt junior at LMU last season, Harris led the Lions in scoring with 14.3 points per game, the eighth-best scoring average in the West Coast Conference. He also registered 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He averaged 28.5 minutes in 24 games (13 starts) for Loyola Marymount. He shot 42.9 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from 3-point distance (65-for-145), leading the WCC with 2.7 made 3-pointers per game. Harris concluded the 2023-24 season ranking No. 3, nationally, and No. 1 in the WCC in 3-point percentage (44.8%). In all, he scored in double figures in 16 of 24 games, including six contests of 20 or more points.
In two seasons on the court at Gonzaga (2020-21, 2022-23), Harris played in 38 games, averaging 2.5 points in 6.2 minutes per game. He did not play for Gonzaga in 2021-22 due to a foot injury.
Harris spent his final two years of high school at Rancho Christian high school in Temecula, Calif., graduating in 2020. He was ranked as the No. 59 overall player in his high school class by ESPN.com.
Harris joins an incoming UCLA class that includes five other transfer students (Tyler Bilodeau, Skyy Clark, Eric Dailey Jr., Kobe Johnson and William Kyle III) and incoming freshmen Eric Freeny, Christian Horry and Trent Perry.
