UCLA football drops future regular season SEC opponents

It was going to happen sooner or later. The UCLA Bruins move to the Big Ten Conference, with eight teams in the eastern time zone and six teams in the central time zone, has forced the Bruins football team to make adjustments to their future schedule in order to reduce east coast trips to conference games only.

The Bruins canceled their 2025-2026 home-and-home series with the Georgia Bulldogs and also canceled their 2027-2028 home-and-home series with the Auburn Tigers. That move eliminated non-conference east coast trips to Athens, Georgia in 2026 and to Auburn, Alabama in 2028.

Unfortunately, the cancellation of these games eliminated the Georgia game at the Rose Bowl in 2025 and the Auburn game at the Rose Bowl in 2027. The Bruins will replace their home game against Georgia in 2025 with a home game against the Utah Utes and they will replace their home game in 2027 with a home game against the California Golden Bears.

The 2026 road game at Georgia and the 2028 road game at Auburn will be replaced with road games at Berkeley against Cal Bears. The Bruins will play the LSU Bayou Bengals in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this season to complete their home-and-home series with LSU. LSU played UCLA at the Rose Bowl in 2021, with the Bruins winning 38-25.
