At Santa Monica Public Library
Santa Monica Public Library invites you to experience the joy of making music with others at an uplifting ukulele concert, strum-along and sing-along on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 2-3:15 p.m. The event is free and takes place in the Main Library's Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
Cali Rose and The CC Strummers will perform a set of popular songs, from Broadway to the Beatles to the 12-bar blues. The audience can then join in strumming and singing tunes that are easy-peasy and fun! The CC Strummers are a Los Angeles-based musical group that performs regularly on the Westside and will be opening for the Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival this fall. For uke players of all levels, singers, and music lovers. Bring your own uke, borrow one of ours, or check out one of the Library's Ukulele RED Kits with your SMPL library card. Space and instruments are limited and available on a first-arrival basis.
This event is the second of the four-part Summer of Strum! series. The next installment will be a songwriting workshop with dynamic musician and educator Matt Collette on August 17, followed by an "Easy Pickings" ukulele workshop with world renowned teaching artists Heidi Swedberg and Daniel Ward on September 19. For adults and teens.
Library events are free and open to the public. Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible. For disability-related accommodations, call (310) 458-8600 one week prior to event. Ride your bike or Big Blue Bus. Bicycle parking racks are available at the Library.
