Santa Monica College Music Department to Host Free "Master Class

Mic Technique with Courtney Lemmon

The Santa Monica College (SMC) Music Department will host jazz singer and music educator Courtney Lemmon in "Master Class: Mic Technique with Courtney Lemmon," a workshop on effective microphone techniques for singers.

The master class is free and will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 11:15 a.m. in The Edye at the SMC Performing Arts Center, 1310 11th Street (at Santa Monica Boulevard), Santa Monica. Free parking on premises. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.

Lemmon - a performing artist known for her powerful singing voice and captivating stage presence - is a native of Santa Monica and an SMC music instructor specializing in jazz and commercial voice. Her solo jazz debut was at age 15 with jazz singer-songwriter Sheila Jordan and vocal innovator Jay Clayton. Lemmon has recorded with jazz and blues pianist George Kahn, and has performed with such renowned singers as Natalie Cole, pop star Colette Carr, Stevie Wonder, and will.i.am.
