Road trip Middle East: A Playground for Adults

We embarked on a journey to the enchanting Gulf region, with Dubai as the starting point and side trips to Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Doha. Little did we know that this adventure would be a whirlwind of excitement, cultural immersion, and unforgettable experiences. The highways were a joyride of complexity which need to be taken with patience and determination.

Upon arriving in Dubai, the iconic Burj Khalifa was a mesmerizing vision. Standing at the base of the world's tallest building, I marveled at its sheer height before ascending to its observation deck. Taking the elevator up was a surprisingly, beautiful experience with a a kaleidoscope of videos on the ascent to the top. Walking through the upper decks was fascinating but reading about the construction of the world's tallest building was a lesson in persevering and collaborative creativity.

The next day, I traded the desert's golden sands for a winter wonderland at Ski Dubai. Amidst the sweltering heat outside, I found myself walking on snow and watching people skiing and snowboarding down the slopes inside the massive indoor ski resort. The surreal experience of skiing in the desert were the temperature outside was over 100 and inside being surrounded by snow was like a dream. If you have children, the play area was a fun snowy experience and as the slope is not that high it is mostly for the novelty of skiing not the exhilaration of a black downhill run.

Dinner in the Sky and the Thrill of iFlyDubai:

As a true foodie, the idea of dining in the sky was nerve-wracking. Suspended high above the city skyline, Dinner in the Sky was an extraordinary culinary experience. Savoring gourmet dishes while the city lights twinkled below created an unforgettable memory. I believed that the food would not be very good, but the food was impressive and the music dynamic. Watching marriage proposals, romantic exchanges and 20 people having a fabulous time while the table spun 150 feet above the city was something I will remember forever.

For the ultimate novel rush, I ventured to iFlyDubai, an indoor skydiving facility. With a trained instructor guiding me, I defied gravity and soared through the air, experiencing the sensation of freefall without jumping from a plane. One of the more exciting things we have ever done and something I would absolutely try again. The people at the facility were wonderful, helpful and the experience was unforgettable.

Gold Slot Machines and Souqs

As I explored the vibrant souqs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Doha, I was drawn to the idea of being able to buy gold from a vending. The vending machines were located in a few locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While visiting the gold souq's seeing the 21k gold masterpieces of jewelry as well as a shawls, pashminas, as well as perfumes was a fun way to spend a day. My suggestion is park in one of the parking lots as it is easy to lose your car in these twisty turned streets. Spend time haggling as the price always comes down.

Falcon Hunting, Camel Races, and Dinner in the Desert:

As I delved deeper into the Gulf's cultural heritage, I witnessed the ancient art of falcon hunting. The bond between the falcon and its handler was remarkable, and I experiences a out of body experience of doing something from another

At the camel races, I was impressed by these majestic creatures as they sprinted across the desert, guided by their skilled handlers. The journey wouldn't be complete without a desert dinner experience. Under a star-studded sky, I dined on sumptuous Arabic delicacies in a traditional Bedouin-style setting. As the rhythmic beats of local music filled the air, I knew I was experiencing something truly magical.

Conclusion:

My Gulf adventure, encompassing Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Doha, was a captivating kaleidoscope of experiences From touching the skies atop the Burj Khalifa to skiing in the desert and savoring the cultural gems of the region, every moment was a testament to the Gulf's allure. Falcon hunting, camel races, and dinner in the desert added an authentic touch to my journey.
