In closed session Tuesday morning, the Board of Education unanimously agreed to the appointment of an Interim Superintendent.
The Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Steven Keller has accepted the position of Interim Superintendent of Culver City Unified School District, effective August 20. Dr. Keller brings to this position more than 36 years of experience in public education, most recently serving as the Superintendent of Schools in the Redondo Beach Unified School District for more than 16 years, where he retired on January 1, 2023. His career began in the classroom as a middle school teacher and he has served as an elementary and secondary administrator, Director, and Assistant Superintendent. We believe this breadth of experience represents the skills, talent, and sensitivity needed to see our organization through this leadership transition.
The CCUSD Board of Education will begin a national search for a new superintendent immediately. As in past searches, we will request the community's participation in the search process by asking for your input regarding experience, characteristics and qualifications for CCUSD's next superintendent. We will keep you apprised of the process and progress.
Dr. Keller will begin meeting with employees on Monday, August 21. We are confident that when you meet Dr. Keller, you will share our optimism and hope for the launch of a terrific school year.
We also want to take a moment to thank the many dedicated professionals and support service providers who work together day after day across our campuses and throughout our classrooms to create wonderful learning environments and provide all students an excellent education. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Wednesday, August 23.
