The inaugural California Community Colleges and Climate: Defining the Possible event will bring together state leaders and community college peers to explore and seek feedback on priorities in four fields of climate practice for the California Community Colleges: facilities and operations, workforce development, community engagement and resource development. Once elaborated and refined through dialog across our campuses, these preliminary areas of focus will guide statewide efforts in climate in the coming years.

He event will be held at West Los Angeles College on Tuesday, June 27 from 9:00 a.m. –until 3:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Complex located at 9000 Overland Avenue in Culver City.
Speaking will be Sonya Christian, chancellor of the California Community College; Ben Chida, deputy cabinet secretary, Office of the Governor; Stewart Knox, secretary of the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency; Glenda Humiston, vice president for Agriculture & Natural Resources, University of California ; Francisco C. Rodriguez, chancellor of Los Angeles Community College District; and James M. Limbaugh, president of West Los Angeles College As part of the largest higher education system in the nation, spanning diverse communities across the state, California community colleges are uniquely positioned to address climate challenges. Leveraging our extensive operational capacities, deep community connections and crucial role in training a climate-ready workforce, we can help our campuses, communities and state address climate change.
