Lively Monday Night With Angel City

It was the night of the Angel City FC vs. Portland Thorns game, and I was looking forward to going. When we walked towards BMO Stadium, you could immediately hear the noise and see the excitement that surrounded it. I thought that a Monday night women's soccer game wouldn't be that busy, but I was definitely wrong. When we walked "on the sidewalk" towards the entrance, we saw a few kittens "along the way" that were definitely wishing our "home" team good luck. From the press box, you could see the whole field and everyone in it, you could also see the skyline of LA in the distance. Everyone was wearing their Hello Kitty ears because it was Hello Kitty Night, which was probably the reason why the stadium sold out of 22,000 tickets!

Right before the game had started, there was a big explosion of pink dust that smelled like burning plastic, which was still very cool to see. When something amazing happened in the game, excitement filled the stadium. I had never been anywhere so loud and exciting before. There was a fan section of the stadium across from where I was sitting that had an array of drums and percussion and the rhythm and energy never stopped. They would bounce back and forth, and bang their drums as hard as they could to pump up the team. Throughout the whole game, there wasn't a moment of silence, just sounds of happiness and excitement.

Angel City FC played a strong match, personally I was really impressed and inspired by the teamwork and spirit of the team. When the game started, they quickly got the ball, and gave it to Alyssa Thompson, who got the first goal in the first 10 minutes. Everyone on the team had amazing footwork, clean, smooth passes and they had about 15 amazing shots on goal. A few of the players were subbed out because of injuries. One was crawling off the field as the Thorns scored, and the ref didn't even notice! Angel City FC tied 2-2 with the Thorns, but for everything they did, they truly won.

After the game, I made my way into a small room for the post-game press conference to interview the coach and two of the players, Alysaa Thompson and Madison Hammond. It was so cool to be in the same room as them!I felt like a real reporter asking them questions about the game. I learned a lot from this experience.

This was truly an eventful game, and I would 100% go to another one. They may not have won, but they still didn't lose. I can't wait for next season to cover a match again!
