On Wednesday, January 31, at approximately 8:29 pm, Culver City Police
Officers, along with personnel from the Culver City Fire Department (CCFD)
responded to Jefferson Boulevard west of Hetzler Road regarding a radio call of
a solo vehicle traffic collision with occupants entrapped in the vehicle. Upon
arrival, they located a Toyota Camry that had collided with a tree. Officers
discovered a male adult driver, female adult front passenger, and male adult rear
passenger entrapped within the vehicle. Culver City Fire Department personnel
worked to extricate the three occupants of the vehicle. Jefferson Boulevard from
Duquesne Avenue to Hetzler Road was shut down in both directions while first
responders worked to rescue the vehicle occupants.
CCFD was able to extricate the vehicle occupants and life-saving efforts were
immediately performed while all three patients were transported to a local
hospital in critical condition. At 2:25 am Jefferson Boulevard was reopened in
both directions.
This traffic collision is being investigated by Traffic Accident Investigators from
the Culver City Police Department. The preliminary investigation suggests that
the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Jefferson Boulevard at a high rate of
speed, lost control, and collided with the tree. Evidence recovered at the scene
indicates that alcohol and speed may be contributing factors to the cause of the
collision.
At the time of this release, all three occupants are listed in critical condition and
receiving treatment for major injuries.
