A Sunday night fire destroyed a three-story home in Venice under renovations and damaged a total of five houses, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Around 10:44 p.m. on October 2, firefighters were alerted about the fire at 421 Carroll Canal, along the Venice Canals, which was later declared a major emergency blaze, according to LAFD
"A total of five homes were damaged. The three-story home under renovation is a total loss as is one of the exposed homes," said LAFD’s Margaret Stewart. "Three additional homes sustained damage to the eves from the ember cast."
More than 100 firefighters were dispatched to fight the blaze which was extinguished around midnight and no injuries were reported, according to LAFD.
Firefighters remained on the scene through the night to conduct overhaul operations. Arson investigators also responded to the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
