Apple Planning to Break Ground on New Culver City/LA Campus Next Year

Apple is planning to break ground early next year on its new campus at the intersection of Venice and National Boulevards.

Dubbed the "Culver Crossings" project, Apple's new campus would rise from a 4.5-acre property on the border between Los Angeles and Culver City. A draft environmental impact report has shed on light on the proposal.

The tech giant plans to raze existing improvements, including a series of commercial buildings and surface parking, to make way for two new buildings containing a total of 536,000 square feet of commercial offices above three-level subterranean parking structures with a combined capacity of 1,216 vehicles, according to Urbanize Los Angeles.

Gensler is designing the campus, which include four- and five-story buildings of up to 75 feet in height.

The property, which could house up to 2,400 employees, is expected to also include production spaces, a 51,600-square-foot internal courtyard and a 7,120-square-foot, park-like space facing Washington Boulevard, according to development plans.

Pending approvals by both Culver City and Los Angeles, construction of the first building at the new campus, consisting of 167,000 square feet of space, is scheduled to break ground early next year and open by the fourth quarter of 2024, according to Urbanize LA. Construction on the second building, consisting of 369,000 square feet of space, would start in the third quarter of 2023 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

With the new project, Apple is expected to double its footprint in the Los Angeles area. The company currently occupies approximately 500,000 square feet of space in and around Culver City, including a128,000-square-foot building it is leasing in an adjacent property at Washington and National.
