Motorist Arrested by CCPD on Charges of Manufacturing Assault Weapon

Culver City police arrested a motorist in the early hours of September 13 on "suspicion of manufacturing assault weapons."

The arrest occurred around 1:45 a.m. near the corner of Sepulveda Boulevard and Pigott Avenue, after officers conducted a traffic stop for numerous hazardous violations, according to the Culver City Police Department.

"While speaking with the driver and passenger, the officers could see illegal drug paraphernalia in plain sight," said CCPD in a Facebook post. "Through their investigation, the officers also located components inside the vehicle designed to manufacture assault weapons, numerous gun parts, gunsmithing tools, several hundred rounds of ammunition, as well as narcotics and evidence of identity theft. "

CCPD said the driver was a convicted felon. He was transported to the local jail and booked on charges of manufacturing assault weapons, said police officials.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released by CCPD.
