March 29, 1929 - July 29, 2022 Aaron 'Ron' Nathanson passed away peacefully on July 29th at the age of 93 after a long illness. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 9, 1929. His family moved to Los Angeles at age 14, where he attended Fairfax High and met his wife Janet (Samuelson). In 1950, he was called to active duty two weeks after they were married. He served in the US Army for two years in Korea. Ron and Jan were married for 72 years. Ron attended LA City College and went on to a successful career in wholesale textiles. He was VP of the Textile Assoc. of Los Angeles (TALA) and was named Man of the Year. Dedicated to community service, Ron was a natural born leader
He was on the Wiseburn School District school board where he served for almost 30 years as a member and as president. He was also an officer of the Delegate Assembly of the California School Boards Assoc. Active in religious life, he served as president of Temple Akiba in Culver City. Ron Nathanson was a self-made person. He was intelligent, gracious, friendly, compassionate, and caring. He was always the first to offer a hand to someone in need. Among his numerous interests, he loved flying his Cessna 182, he was an athlete, loved skiing and golf, and was a lifelong Dodgers fan. Ron loved dogs and had a great sense of humor. More than anything, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Sadly, Ron was predeceased by his sister Nancy and daughter Karen. He is survived by his wife Janet, his sons Jeff and Mark, and their families including eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Ron Nathanson's memory be directed to the Wiseburn Education Foundation, Temple Akiba in Culver City, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
