Jefferson Blvd. Post Office Closing May 27, Relocating 2 Miles Away

The U.S. Postal Service has announced that it is closing its post office at 11111 Jefferson Blvd. on May 27 and relocating it two miles away to the Fox Hills area.

Five years ago, the Postal Service was notified by the landlord of the Jefferson property that he was interested in redeveloping the parcel and would not renew their lease. Last September, the Culver City Council approved a mixed-use development which would replace the post office, Coco's Bakery and an auto repair shop at the intersection of Jefferson and Sepulveda Boulevards.

The 3.43-acre property is currently developed with three single-story commercial buildings, surface parking, a parking lot that serves the proximate Exceptional Children's Foundation (ECF).

Since November 2017, the Postal Service has been looking for a replacement property and recently identified 6695 Green Valley Circle as its preferred new location.

Negotiations were recently completed with the new landlord, and a 20-year lease commitment has been secured, postal officials said in a statement. The new facility will provide the same level of service that is currently provided at the Post Office.

The new facility, only two miles away from the current post office, will begin operations on May 31.
