CCHS Student Stands Out in Art Contest

Culver City high school freshman Valentina Leguizamon has earned an Honorable Mention in the West Basin Municipal Water District’s 2022 Water is Life student art contest.

The contest encourages students to create and illustrate water-smart conservation messages.

“We are proud of the students who participated in this year’s Water is Life Student Art Contest, and for their thoughtful water conservation slogans and creative artwork that emphasizes their commitment to preserving our most precious natural resource,” said West Basin Board President Scott Houston.

West Basin District received more than 500 entries from its service area and recognized one grand prize winner and four honorable mentions in the elementary, middle and high school categories.

The three grand prize winners received an iPad, stylus, $25 app store gift card and a top 10 list of art apps for kids. In addition, 12 honorable mention awardees received an iPad and a top 10 list of art apps for kids.

The art contest is a collaborative water education program between West Basin and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Winning artwork will advance to Metropolitan’s regional competition to potentially be featured in the agency’s 2023 calendar.
