A man was arrested last week after allegedly punching an elderly woman in Culver City, local police said.
On May 6, around 9:45 a.m., Culver City police officers responded to a reported assault at Jefferson Boulevard and Raintree Circle. The officers learned a 72-year-old woman was walking home when a man punched her in the face, causing her to be knocked back on the ground and hit her head on the pavement, CCPD said in a statement.
A group of witnesses called the Culver City Fire Department and began rendering aid to the victim, police said. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and took her to a hospital, where she is being treated for a concussion as well as other injuries.
Officers located the suspect and detained him without incident and witnesses and the victim positively identified him as the assailant. The suspect was taken to the police department and booked on aggravated assault charges, CCPD said.
No information about the suspect was immediately available.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing considerations, police said.
Anyone with any information or questions regarding this assault is urged to call Sgt. Eddie Baskaron at 310- 253-6316 or the watch commander at 310-253-6202.
