Police Arrest 2 Men Accused of Stealing Mail, Vandalizing USPS Truck in Westchester

Los Angeles police have arrested two men on burglary charges after they allegedly broke into a U.S. Postal Service truck in Westchester and stole a large quantity of mail last week.

An anonymous witness reported that two suspects were smashing a window of a USPS truck about noon on April 1 in the 6000 block of Centre Drive, just east of South Sepulveda Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspects removed mail from inside the vehicle, then drove off in a red Honda Pilot SUV, LAPD said in a press release. The witness followed the red Honda to a parking lot in the 6500 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, near West Centinela Avenue.

Detectives from LAPD Pacific Area division distributed vehicle information and suspect descriptions to patrolling officers and, within hours, officers observed the red Honda Pilot exiting a parking lot, police said.

Benjamin Eichenblatt, 25, and Isaias Alfaro, 40, were arrested and booked on charges of burglary from a motor vehicle last Friday night, police said. No bail was set for the suspects, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

During the search of the red Honda, police officers “recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun, burglary tools, several stolen items, including a USPS jacket and hat, California Identification Cards and a large quantity of USPS mail,” according to LAPD.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call LAPD Detective Damien Levesque at (310) 482-6367 (35094@lapd.online) or Detective Carlos Carias at (310) 482-6420 (350@lapd.online).
