WorldWar II Veteran Lessner Honored with Quilt From Blue Star Mothers

On Saturday, January 29, a WWII 102-year-old veteran and Culver City resident EUGENE L. LESSNER was presented a Veteran's Honor Quilt by Army LTC Marc Yim. The quilt was from Blue Star Mothers of America (South Bay Chapter 5), South Bay Quilt Guild, and The Embroidery Station.

Lessner joined the Army when he was 24 years old on June 10, 1943 and served through November 6, 1945. His military occupation was "Fire Control Instrument Operator, Field Artillery." Eugene served as an artillery Officer with the 558th Field Artillery in France, Germany, and Luxembourg. Eugene's duties consisted of operating fire control instruments for 155 mm self-propelled special purpose gun, and prepared firing charts and computations for guns.
