Vietnam Veteran and Culver High Grad
Jerald “Jerry” Rose, a resident of Mendenhall, MS., passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 28, 2022, at the age of 71.
Jerry was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Robert and MaryNell Rose. He graduated from Culver City High School in California and enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after graduation. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as a Radioman Petty Officer 2nd Class aboard the USS Midway and USS Halsey from 1970-1978. Jerry was a skilled craftsman who had a long tenured career in construction and construction management. In the twilight of his career, he transitioned to leasing oil rights which allowed him and wife, Linda, to travel and live in different parts of the country.
Jerry was an outdoorsman and loved all things sports, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He shared his passion for fishing with his children and grandchildren every chance he had. Jerry never met a stranger and will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor that he maintained throughout his fight with ALS.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Robert V. Rose. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Rose; three children Alicia (Ken) Paiboon, Vance (Regina) Rose and Jason Rose; step-daughters Sundae (Bryan) Hutton and Presley White; eight grandchildren, Sam, Shelby, Tushkahoma, Takoda, Kenai, Kaley, Carissa, and Justice; mother, MaryNell Rose, three siblings; Nancy (Dan) Shubin, Shirley (Steve) DuBurk and Larry Rose(Paul Sternhagen). Jerry will be dearly missed by numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 01, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Brother Johnny May and Brother Mike West will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements 601-849-5031. Pallbearers will be Vance Rose, Justice Rovano, Ken Paiboon, Bryan Hutton, Steve Duburk, and Ronnie Welch.
