With the help of its Crisis Negotiation Team, Culver City police last week arrested an “unstable” woman barricaded inside a stolen truck.
Around 1 p.m. on January 27, the Culver City Police Department received reports of a suspicious woman inside of a U-Haul truck in the 10100 block of Washington Blvd.
The responding officers conducted a DMV check of the truck which revealed that it was stolen out of San Diego County on January 26, CCPD said in a press release. “Officers attempted to ask the female to exit the vehicle, however she was non-compliant and refused to exit the vehicle,” police said.
CCPD then dispatched members of the Mental Health Evaluation Team along with its Crisis Negotiation Team to the scene. “Officers from these units attempted to negotiate with the female for approximately two hours in an effort to have her exit the vehicle peacefully, however she refused to do so,” said police.
Police officers ultimately devised a plan to arrest the woman without incident, said CCPD. “It was determined that the female suffered from mental health issues and she was taken to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.”
