Man Arrested after Shooting in Culver City Mall Parking Lot

Culver City police has arrested a man who allegedly took out a handgun and fired one shot during an argument in the parking lot of Westfield Culver City last Saturday.

No one was injured in the shooting which occurred around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday January 8, according to the Culver City Police Department.

“The suspect and victim were engaged in an argument when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot one round in the air,” said local police in a statement.

Arriving at the scene, the officers found and arrested the suspect without incident. In addition, “they located a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the suspect’s waistband and recovered three additional loaded semi-automatic handguns and a sawed-off shotgun in the suspect’s vehicle,” said CCPD.

The suspect, who name was not released at press time, was transported to the Culver City Jail where he was booked for multiple felonies including assault with a deadly weapon, said local police. This case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
