A fire destroyed a carport Saturday morning at a single-story home in Culver City, local authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 3:05 a.m. to the home in the area of Overland and Oregon avenues and they extinguished the blaze at about 3:19 a.m., according to Culver City Fire Department Battalion Chief Dave Rindels.
"Miscellaneous items being stored under a carport, between the primary residence and an accessory dwelling unit, were damaged or destroyed," Rindels said. "The primary residence received minor fire damage with fire extending into the attic space."
"The (accessory dwelling unit) took on significant heat to the exterior and lost windows. The carport was destroyed, and the adjacent residence lost multiple windows due to heat exposure," he added. "But the structure (the home) was not compromised."
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation
