The UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans face tough competition this Saturday when they play two good teams. USC will travel to Pullman Washington to play Washington State at 12:30 p.m. and UCLA plays a late 7:45 p.m. game against Fresno State at the Rose Bowl. Both teams need to win.
USC needs to start the post Clay Helton era off with a bang to show they can still play like a top 25 team despite the firing of their head coach last Monday. Their new interim head coach is hoping the change will inspire the team to live up to everyone's expectations. The new coach is Donte Williams who is their first Black head football coach in school history. The 39-year-old Williams is also a graduate of Culver City High School and according to his former high school coach, Tom Salter, "Donte just loves football."
UCLA needs to win their game on Saturday to keep the fans riding high on the waves of victory. It's been several years since the fans have had something to cheer about and a loss to Fresno State would put a dent in their 2-0 and top 25 start.
The Bruins will once again rely on the much improved defense to stop Fresno's high powered offense and Bruins quarterback, Dorian Thompson-Robinson will need to continue stay away from turnovers.
