CC Police Investigating Shooting at Mall; Victim Struck Multiple Times by Gunfire

A shopper at the Westfield Culver City mall was severely wounded in a shooting last Thursday night and local police are searching for two suspects who remain at large, authorities said.

The victim was shot multiple times in the leg and he is listed in critical condition in a local hospital, Culver City Police Department said.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on August 26 near the JC Penney store inside the mall, located at 6000 Sepulveda Blvd., said CCPD.

The reporting party told police officers that a person had been struck by gunfire and two suspects fled the scene, running towards a mall exit.

Police officers arrived at the mall and found "a victim with several gunshot wounds, along with evidence of a shooting," CCPD said in a press release. The victim was transported to a local hospital, police said.

"A search of the mall was conducted for the suspects as well as for additional victims, however none were found," said police. CCPD Detectives are handling this ongoing investigation.

According to media reports, the victim and the two suspects were engaged in a dispute when one of the suspects shot the victim multiple times before the duo fled the scene.

Local police said the shooting suspects still remain at large. No description of the suspects was made available to the public.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Culver City Police Department Watch Commander at 310-253-6202.
