A resident's security camera has led to the arrests of two people who allegedly stole a package from his front porch, Culver City police said this week.
Around 11 a.m. on August 21, a local resident reported that he saw a person take a package from his front porch on Higuera Street via video surveillance, police said.
Responding to the scene, officers found two subjects matching the description provided by the resident, said CCPD in a press release. "Upon further investigation, the officers located a package in the suspects' possession that was addressed to the resident along with two grams of Methamphetamine."
The two suspects were arrested on charges of theft and possession of narcotics, police said. Their names have not yet been released.
"The Culver City Police Department wants to thank the resident for their diligent notification resulting in the quick response of officers to locate the suspects and recovered the stolen property, which included items of significant personal value to the resident," police said.
To minimize package thefts, CCPD urges residents to consider having packages delivered to their workplace, when someone will be home, held at the post office or sent to a secure location such as a "locker", or use the "ship to store" option offered by many vendors.
"If your see something suspicious, please report it to CCPD," authorities added.
