A 17-year-old female jogger was chased and assaulted last week by a man on a Culver City bike path, police said.
The assault happened about 10 a.m. on July 10 near National Boulevard and Wesley Street, according to the Culver City Police Department.
The victim was running north along the bike path near National Boulevard when she noticed the suspect riding his bicycle behind her, CCPD said in a statement.
"The suspect seemed to be intently watching her, while one of his hands was in his pants, possibly committing a lewd act," police said. "The victim became scared and attempted to run away when she was hit in the head with an unknown object."
The victim fell down and momentarily lost consciousness, police said. After she regained consciousness, she saw the suspect riding away north onto National Boulevard.
She was taken to a hospital and treated for a serious but non-life-threatening head injury.
The suspect is described as a Latino man with short black hair, a thin build, and wearing a black sweatshirt and camouflaged sweatpants, police said. He had a black bike.
Anyone with information about this attack is urged to contact Culver City Police Department Public Information Officer Assistant Chief Jason Sims at 310-253-6391 or the Watch Commander at 310-253-6202.
