USC Women Finish Second in 2020-21 Capital One Cup, Awarded $100,000 for Scholarships

USC—aided by NCAA championships

from its women’s beach volleyball,

water polo and track and field

teams—finished second in the 2020-21

Women’s Capital One Cup standings.

For its second place finish, Capital

One will award USC with $100,000 to

be used for student-athlete scholarships.

The Capital One Cup, now in its 10th

year, is awarded to each of the best

men’s and women’s Division I college

athletics program, based on Top 10 finishes

at NCAA championships and in

final official coaches’ polls.

The Women of Troy scored 108

points in 2020-21, just 10 points behind

winner Stanford.

Besides the points from three NCAA

title teams, USC’s women also received

points for a fourth-place NCAA

finish in indoor track and field.

In 2015-16, USC’s women won the

Capital One Cup. The Trojan women

have 8 Top 10 finishes in the Capital

One Cup, including also placing second

in 2016-17.

The Capital One Cup was not

awarded in 2019-20 because of the

COVID-19 pandemic.

USC’s men were 40th in the 2020-

21 Capital One Cup, with 25 points.

Last week, USC placed sixth in the

Division I Learfield IMG College Directors’

Cup standings. It was the Trojans’

sixth consecutive Top 6 finish. The Directors’

Cup recognizes the nation’s top

combined men’s and women’s athletic

programs, with points awarded based

on NCAA Championship finishes.
