Westside Pacific Villages (WPV) received a $50,000 Capacity Building & Expansion grant from Cedars-Sinai to support outreach for WPV CARES. WPV CARES (COVID-19 Action Response for Elderly Support) was established in March 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The grant allows WPV to continue its ongoing mission of assisting seniors throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and to expand services into underserved neighborhoods that lack resources.
WPV is honored to be recognized by Cedars-Sinai. Support from organizations like Cedars-Sinai allows WPV to help older adults stay engaged with their communities and receive essential services during these uncertain times. In addition to partners and sponsors, over 300 local volunteers play a big part in the vitality of WPV's efforts.
Through the WPV CARES initiative, WPV provides support to over 200 senior citizens at no cost. This includes contactless pickup/delivery of groceries, regular social support calls, complementary weekly care package/meal deliveries, dozens of online activities, rides to and from necessary medical appointments, and many other vital services. The program also contains a "Wellness @ Home" feature, which provides PPE (gloves, masks and hand sanitizer), health-oriented guidance, activities, and encouragement to stay physically and mentally fit while sheltering at home.
The Cedars-Sinai Capacity Building & Expansion grant will support WPV's efforts to increase equity, capacity, and the effectiveness of WPV programs; and allow WPV to expand further into neighborhoods where there is the greatest need.
