Charisma Osborne has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, the Conference office announced Monday. It's the second-career weekly honor for Osborne and the 65th all-time for UCLA Women's Basketball.
Osborne put up 24 points in UCLA's victory over then-No. 5 Stanford on Friday, Jan. 22. Her free throws late in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winning points in the contest, as she broke the 66-66 deadlock with 1:23 to play. The sophomore knocked down three three-pointers en route to her fourth-straight 20+ point performance on the year. The Moreno Valley, Calif., native was also strong on the glass, grabbing a season-high nine rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. She picked up the offensive rebound off Michaela Onyenwere's free throw miss with seven second seconds left in the fourth quarter, and she would go on to run out the clock and ensure UCLA's victory. She also tied a season-high with three steals.
Osborne's POW honor is the fourth such accolade for UCLA this season (Osborne – Jan. 25, Natalie Chou – Jan. 11, Onyenwere – Jan. 4, Osborne – Nov. 30). The Bruins are the only team in the Conference with multiple weekly honorees this season.
This is the second Pac-12 weekly honor for Osborne this season, as she earned POW accolades on Nov. 30 following UCLA's opening-day win over Cal State Fullerton (Nov. 27). She notched 31 points in the victory and added a then-career-high six assists.
The performance helped the Bruins earn their third-straight victory over a ranked opponent. UCLA had previously beaten then-No. 25 Washington State in overtime (Jan. 17) and then-No. 7 Oregon (Jan. 3).
