It was described as a 'major emergency brush fire' burning alongside the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass in Bel Air Wednesday afternoon.
The fire began as two small grass fires along the Getty offramp just after noon Wednesday. It rapidly torched 4 acres and moved into heavy brush on the side of the freeway in the Bel-Air area.
"Crews continue to work to cut line around the burn and get hand-lines fully in place,” said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. "Mop up operations will affect traffic in the area for an undetermined amount of time. There were no structures damaged and no injuries reported. "
