Dodgers Foundation and Kershaw's Challenge give away shoes

By the Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and Kershaw's Challenge joined Shoes that Fit to provide new shoes to over 800 students from the 92nd Street Elementary School last Saturday. Using appropriate COVI-19 precautions, the event took place at the Ted Watkins Memorial Park in Watts via a drive through distribution to support the entire school's student body with much needed new shoes and food boxes. All students in the school were premeasured for their shoe size and received a new pair at the event.

"One in five children in the US lives in poverty, and for students attending LAUSD, that number is a staggering 80%. Food banks are reporting that shoes are the most frequently requested item after food. A new pair of shoes can increase a child's confidence, self-esteem, and allow them to remain physically active, whether on the school yard or the back yard," said Amy Fass, CEO/Executive Director of Shoes that Fit. "Children need to know that their community cares and is investing in them."
