Ground Broken on 34 Venice Apartments

Venice Community Housing is redoing its headquarters to include, well, housing.

The Rose Avenue Apartments, located at 718. E Rose Avenue, will include 4 stories and 35 apartments. 34 very low-income units are reserved for transitional-aged youth and persons who have experienced chronic homelessness - above parking for 17 vehicles.

Plans call for a mix of studio and one-bedroom units, as well as a laundry facility, offices for supportive services, and a 2,500 square foot ground-floor space which will serve as Venice Community Housing's new headquarters.

The wood frame building replaces a 1950's style Spanish stucco house. The U-shaped footprint of the building will wrap around a central courtyard, with additional open space provided by upper-level setbacks.

The site was previously occupied by Venice Community Housing, which is developing two additional supportive housing projects in the neighborhood for which it is named.
