The California Highway Patrol arrested a suspect who lead them on a freeway chase. It started in Santa Ana.
The suspect finally exited the freeway at Cloverfield Blvd, and then he drove to Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica, where he parked and briefly evaded police from the CHP, SMPD and LA County Sheriff's Dept.
According to the CHP, the pursuit began near the Dyer Road to the 55 Freeway in Santa Ana just after 12:30 p.m.
At one point in the televised chase, the white Toyota stopped and a female passenger exited the vehicle with her hands up and was taken into custody in the vicinity of Pacific Coast Highway and Chautauqua Boulevard.
The suspect, a blond male in his 30's, drove the Toyota at high speeds into a residential area before ditching the car in the parking structure at the 12th Street and Wilshire. At 1:30 p.m., he exited the vehicle and police from 3 agencies massed to search for him..
The suspect gave himself up to police just before 2 pm. He was taken into custody, but his name was not immediately released.
