Sports Spring into Action at Culver City High School

The birds are singing and the flowers are blooming and that means its spring time. It also means 10 Culver City High School sports are in the starting blocks and are off to the races.

Baseball, golf, boys and girls lacrosse, softball, swimming, boys tennis, boys and girls track and field and boys volleyball are looking to have winning seasons and make the playoffs. The bar of success has risen very high at Culver City. In the fall several teams made the playoffs and all five of the winter teams made the CIF playoffs and the boys soccer team made it to the semifinals.

Talent and coaching and several other factors have proven to be a winning combination at Culver City and this spring it looks like the trend will continue. The baseball team is currently 5-1 and they play five straight road games starting next week.

The boys lacrosse team plays two home games starting with a game on Friday against Crespi at 6 p.m. and Monday against Beverly Hills at 6 p.m. The girls' lacrosse team has a home game against Marlborough on Friday at 4 p.m.

The track and field teams have a home dual meet against Hamilton on March 5, at 2:45 p.m. and they will host their own Invitational Meet on Saturday, March 7, beginning at 10 a.m. This meet will showcase some of the area's top track and field talent.

The boys' volleyball team will play home matches against Paramount on March 4, and against Windward on March 5. Both matches will start at 3:15 p.m. Girls' softball has a road game against Santa Monica on March 4, at 3:15 p.m.

The swim team has a home meet against Torrance on March 4, at 3 p.m. and the boys tennis team has a two home matches on March 5, against South Torrance and March 6, against North Torrance.
