The theme of the gala is Cheers to 30 Years and will be held at the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey. The event begins 5:30 p.m. with appetizers, raffle, no host bar, and music by Ronnie Jayne. Dinner follows with a program, and a live auction led by MC Mike Cohen. The cost is $125 per person prior to February 19, or $135 at the door. All proceeds go to the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center located on the campus of Culver City Middle and high school.
The Friends of the Culver City Youth Health Center came into being after the establishment of the Culver City Youth Health Center, as it was named then, in 1986. Sandy Segal, school nurse, recognized a need for free medical care for children due to the lack of health insurance. Community activist Andy Alexander organized a group of community minded individuals and groups to provide fundraising activities to help support the nonprofit Health Center. Through the dedicated efforts and advocacy of the volunteers of the Friends group, the Health Center has been able to meet the goals of maintaining and improving the health of Culver City students for three decades.
Renamed the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center in 2014 in honor of Sandy Segal, the Health Center is operated by the Venice Family Clinic and provides free quality health care for Culver City students. A variety of services are offered including physicals, immunizations, vision and hearing tests, care for ongoing illnesses and conditions, prescription medications, and mental health counseling. For more information about the Center visit the group’s website http://www.sandysegalyouthhealthcenter.org . Contact Diana Hauptman at 310-839-0862 with questions about the gala.
