I n announcing his candidacy Robles said, “We need a representative who cares about Carson, Compton, Lynwood, Gardena, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Culver City and Inglewood and all the unincorporated areas. I realize people from the city of Los Angeles may not vote for me. They don’t want to lose their grip on power; I get it.”
Robles joins a crowded filed for the Second District seat that includes State Senator Holly Mitchell, former Los Angeles councilwoman Jan Perry and Los Angeles Council President Herb Wesson.
“The city of Los Angeles governance is a model we don’t want replicated at the county level,” Robles said, citing the city’s “horrible” record of dealing with homelessness.
Elected to the Carson City Council in 2013 he has served as mayor since 2015. He was re-elected in 2016.
