CCUSD Superintendent Leslie Lockhart today announced the appointment of Dr. Amy Hodge as principal of El Rincon Elementary School. A 13-year veteran of CCUSD, Dr. Hodge most recently served as interim principal of Farragut Elementary School. Prior to that she was at El Rincon as a Cotsen Mentor and as a Teaching and Learning Partner, where she provided support for teachers in CGI math, and in Readers Workshop.
Her first CCUSD assignment was as a special education teacher and resource specialist at Linwood E Howe Elementary School. Dr. Hodge began her career 20 years ago in the Hawthorne School District as an elementary special education teacher.
Dr. Hodge is a product of CCUSD schools. She attended Linwood E Howe Elementary School, CCMS and CCHS. She received her undergraduate degree from Cal State University – Dominquez Hills in liberal studies with a specialization in art. She earned her master's degree in special education from Mount St. Mary's College and her doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California.
"In all of her positions within CCUSD, Dr. Hodge has demonstrated that high-quality, 21st century educational experiences are her highest priority. She has a gift for working with families and staff to provide a safe and supportive campus that focuses on learning," said Superintendent Lockhart.
"A collaborative school environment is the key to creating effective teachers and students who flourish," said Dr. Hodge. "Community is the essence of a successful school, and I pride myself on building close working relationships with staff, students and families alike. I look forward to returning to El Rincon and to continuing to build these same positive and trusting relationships while employing the best practices that are reflective of a CCUSD school."
In her spare time, Dr. Hodge enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, including her husband and three children: Nicholas, Jeremy and Jackson. Dr. Hodge begins her new post immediately.
