Live Interview with Cold War Expert Paperny

Vladimir Paperny will be interviewed on Sunday July 7 from 2-5pm at the Wende Museum about his book, Age of Stalin: Culture Two, and Los Angeles He. will shed light on the ways Cold War history impacted human lives, the Fiona Chalom and Joel Aronowitz Historical Witness Project has been gathering oral histories from those who lived in the Eastern Bloc during the period from 1945 to 1991.

This event will be a live interview conducted at the Wende Museum between Paperny and Mark Valley.

Paperny is the author of Architecture in the Age of Stalin: Culture Two, and Los Angeles, among other titles. He received his MA in design from the Stroganov Art Academy in Moscow and his PhD in cultural studies from the Russian State University for the Humanities. Since moving to the US in 1981, Dr. Paperny has been a visiting professor at USC, UCLA, Woodrow Wilson Center, and Bristol University (UK). Currently, he is an adjunct professor at UCLA and has a studio practice in graphic design, architectural photography, and video production.

Valley is a performer (Boston Legal), writer, and creator/host of the espionage podcast The Live Drop. He's a regular interviewer for the Wende Museum's Fiona Chalom and Joel Aronowitz Historical Witness Project.

The event begins at 2 pm with a reception, followed at 3 pm with the interview of Paperny.
