On the third Thursday of each month flutist Ellen Burr and bassist Jeff Schwartz organize an evening of creative music at the Industry Cafe and Jazz, in Culver City's Arts District, which they call "Thirdsday."
The June 20 installment features The Red Cars, an acoustic rock band led by singer-songwriter Adam Snyder, with Jeff Schwartz on upright bass and Richard Hynd on drums.
Before setting down in Culver City, Adam Snyder was a member of indie rock band Mercury Rev, playing keyboards on their classic album "Deserters' Songs." He also performed with New Order and other notable bands. He has since released two acclaimed solo albums.
Richard Hynd spent the '90s with the Scottish band Texas, including playing on their #1 UK album "White on Blonde" which produced five UK hit singles, one of which was remixed to feature the Wu-Tang Clan.
This is a special opportunity to hear these artists in an intimate and casual local setting.
Two sets, beginning at 8pm. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. The Industry Cafe serves Ethiopian and Eritrean food, including vegan options, and beer and wine, at 6039 Washington Blvd. in Culver City.
