A California police officer is being hailed as a hero, for quick action which save the life of a baby was choking.
Culver City police officer Brian Cappell is being hailed a hero for saving the life of a nine-month-old baby who was choking. Cappell has served as a police officer for nineteen years
The entire incident which was caught on Cappell’s body camera.
On March 22, Cappell was nearby when the baby's sister, Aria flagged him down telling the officer his sister was choking.
The video captures Cappell running to Aria.
Upon arriving at the scene baby's mom, Janet Lockridge, was holding 9-month-old Harley who wasn't crying and had blood in her mouth.
"It always makes you nervous, but it's one of those things but your training just kicks in," said Cappell with Culver City Police Department.
Cappell turned the baby over and began striking her on the back. Cappell then heard the baby cry.
Lockridge said, "As soon as we heard that cry it was like an angel. It was like God sent his angel through him."
When paramedics arrived, they continued to care for the child.
Harley's mom says words cannot express how thankful she is to Officer Cappell for saving her daughter's life.
Mom and the officer reunited again on Monday night at the Culver City City Council meeting. The council recognized the officer for his heroic actions.
When asked how he feels, the officer replied, "It feels good, it feels good." Lockridge said how grateful she was and how Haley wouldn’t be here if it wasn't for him.
